A man tried to end his life after allegedly stabbing his wife to death in Chattogram Wednesday night. Police said a family quarrel led to the crime.
The deceased was identified as Juthika, 21, wife of Abhi Dhar of Banshkhali in Chattogram.
According to police, a heated argument broke out between Abhi and his wife at the latter's maternal house in the Sitakunda municipality area on Wednesday night.
In a fit of rage, Abhi stabbed Juthika, leaving her seriously injured. As she was bleeding profusely, Abhi panicked and consumed poison, cops said.
Later, local residents rushed the injured to Sitakunda Health Complex, where Juthika was declared dead on arrival.
Abhi is currently undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital.
Suman Banik, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda Model Police Station, said "the accused is under arrest". "A case will be filled in this regard," the OC said, reports UNB.
