Mans burns wife's body after strangulation  in city

Police arrested a man on charges of strangling his wife before setting her body ablaze in the capital's South Mugda.

The incident occurred in the area's Bank Colony on Wednesday morning, said Pranay Kumar Saha, Officer-in-Charge of Mugda Police Station.

The victim was identified as Hashi Begum, 27. Police are interrogating her Komol Hossain over the incident, said the OC.

 "He strangled his wife after an altercation between the duo. He later set the body on fire after pouring kerosene over it in an attempt to hide his crime."

Komol sells machineries in the area. He married Hashi nearly eight months ago. This was the second marriage for both.

The lower parts of Hashi's body and her hair was burnt, said the OC, adding, "During the primary investigation, Komol confessed to setting fire to her body in an effort to mislead people on the cause of death."

The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital's morgue for an autopsy, reports bdnews24.com.
