Students from the Medical Assistants Training School (MATS) have gathered in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka to press home several demands, including employment opportunities.

The demonstration began around 12:00 pm on Monday.

Previously, they had assembled at the Central Shaheed Minar around 10:00 pm on Sunday, reports bdnews24.com.

"Yesterday, police attacked our students, which is why we have come here to protest," said Hasibul Islam Shanto, senior coordinator of the General MATS Students Unity Council.

"We will continue discussions while the protest is ongoing and decide on our next steps. The health and education ministries are currently addressing our concerns, but we need to see real progress. Yesterday, the secretary mentioned they were considering our issues. Our future course of action will depend on their response," he added.

The students' key demands include immediate recruitment to vacant 10th-grade positions, increased employment opportunities in both government and private sectors, and the creation of new positions.

Additionally, they are calling for a curriculum revision, the introduction of internships for this year, and allowances while maintaining the four-year academic course structure.
