Media Reform Commission has officially submitted its report to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed this to the media on Saturday.
The commission members handed over their report to the chief adviser at the State Guest House Jamuna this afternoon (Saturday).
A press briefing was later held outside Jamuna to announce the submission of the report.
The press briefing was attended by Kamal Ahmed, the chairman of the Media Reform Commission and senior journalist, along with Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and other commission members.
The other members of the commission are Shamsul Huq Zahid, Editor of The Financial Express and Representative of the Editors' Council; Professor Dr Gitiara Nasreen, Department of Mass Communication & Journalism at Dhaka University; Akhter Hossain Khan, Secretary of News Papers Owners Association of Bangladesh (NOAB); a representative of Association of Television Owners; Syed Abdal Ahmed, former General Secretary of Jatiya Press Club; Fahim Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of Jamuna Television and a trustee of Broadcast Journalism Centre; Jimi Amir, journalist and convener of Media Support Network; Mustafa Sabuj, Bogura correspondent of The Daily Star; Titu Dutta Gupta, Deputy Editor of The Business Standard; and Abdullah Al Mamun, a student representative.
The interim government formed the Media Reform Commission on November 18 of last year to recommend reforms aimed at making the media independent, strong, and impartial.
