A woman was hacked to death allegedly by her mentally challenged son in Keraniganj Model Town area early Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Shahida Haq, 54, wife of Fazlul Haque, a resident of the area and hailing from Nesarabad in Pirojpur district, reports a news agency.
Being informed by Fazlul, police recovered the body of Shahida and sent it to Mitford Hospital morgue around 2:00am, said Shaker Mohammad Zobair, officer-in-charge of Keraniganj Model Police Station.
Quoting Fazlul, police said his son Shaon, 27, attacked Shahida and cut her throat with a knife.
Police arrested Shaon from the spot.
