Metro rail to begin Friday service from tomorrow, Kazipara station to open

The Kazipara Metro Rail Station is set to open on Friday, kicking off train service for the first day of the weekly holiday.
The project’s Managing Director Mohammad Abdur Rouf made the remarks at a press conference at the DMTCL office on Thursday afternoon.
“For a long time, the public was hoping the metro rail would run on Fridays as well. From tomorrow afternoon, the metro rail will start operating on Fridays. The Kazipara station will also open tomorrow, on Friday.”
Asked about the timetable for the service on Friday, Rouf said: “From tomorrow, Sept 20, the first train will set off from the Uttara North station at 3:30pm on Friday and the last at 9pm. The first train from the Motijheel station will set off at 3:40pm and the last at 9:40pm.”
The schedules for the other days will remain the same, Rouf said.
“On the other days of the week, the first train will set off from Uttara North at 7:10am and the last train at 9pm.”
The trains will depart at around 10-minute intervals, he said.
“The trains from Motijheel will start at 7:30am and the last one will set off at 9:40pm.”
Asked when the Mirpur station may reopen, Rouf said:
“We are working to reopen it quickly. We will open it as soon as possible.”
