Milestone School and College, the scene of a tragic aviation disaster, was scheduled to partially resume academic activities on Sunday. However, a decision has now been made to push back the reopening.
The institution will now remain closed on Sunday and Monday, and school authorities will make an announcement on when the school will reopen on Monday, according to Shah Bulbul, public relations officer at Milestone, bdnews24.com reports.
On Jul 21, a Bangladesh Air Force jet crashed into a building on the Milestone campus. At least 35 people have died from the disaster, with scores of others injured. Most of the victims are children.
Milestone spokesman Shah Bulbul said on Saturday afternoon, “Classes are not restarting on Sunday. Initially, a three-day holiday was declared. It has now been extended by another two days – Sunday and Monday.”
Asked whether the school will reopen on Tuesday, he said: “A decision will be announced on Monday. The school administration will meet on Monday and decide whether the school will open or not.”
