A Dhaka court on Thursday sent Milton Samadder, the chairman of ‘Child and Old Age Care,’ to jail in a human trafficking case. His bail plea was also rejected.
Earlier, police produced him before the court after completing his four-day remand. The investigating officer of the case then requested to keep him in jail until the investigation in the case is completed. On the contrary, Milton’s lawyer applied for bail.
After hearing both sides, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu rejected his bail plea and ordered to put him in jail.
Earlier on May 5, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Shanta Akhtar granted a four-day remand to the accused after a hearing. On that day, police produced him in court after completing three days of remand in a separate case filed on charges of issuing fake death certificates of deceased persons in the care home. The investigating officer of the case then requested to keep him in jail until the investigation of the case is completed. In light of his appeal, the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court ordered to send him to jail.
Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) police raided and arrested Milton Samadder from the Mirpur area of the capital on May 1. The following day, a case was filed against him with the Mirpur Model Police Station on charges of fraud.
