Milton Somaddar, the chairman of Child and Old Age Care, used to beat children and elderly people in the "torture cell" of the organisation after taking yaba pills, said Detective Branch chief Harun-Ur-Rashid.

Harun-or-Rashid, also an additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, disclosed the information while talking to reporters at the DB office in Dhaka on Monday.

In response to a query, he said Somaddar was a drug addict and he used to take yaba pills.

"Torture was inhumane. No one can beat children and elderly people this way except a drug addict. The picture of him beating people has already gone viral on social media," Harun said

He said Milton was making a mint by deceiving people in the guise of charitable work for elderly, orphaned and mentally unbalanced people.

According to the DB chief, Milton did not properly use the money donated for the well-being of those staying at his care home.

He himself was treating the patients without taking them to hospital, he said.

Harun told reporters, “I've received information about Milton's more shocking incidents. Investigations are going on and you will be informed of those after the investigation.”
