Miscreants vandalised and torched nine motorcycles in Thakurgaon’s Sadar upazila on Friday night.

Although electioneering officially ended on Friday morning, the local unit of BNP and ruling party student front Chhatra League continued campaigning at Chameswari Chowdhuryhat, locals said.

They fought running battles and at one stage, the motorcycles were set on fire. Chhatra League claimed BNP activists attacked them and torched their motorcycles in Baragaon Union.

Police and local administration officials rushed to the spot, reports UNB.

Ashikur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the situation came under control after they promised to bring the offenders to book.

"We are investigating the incident and will take legal actions against the perpetrators," he added.
