A sexagenarian woman was stabbed to death by some miscreants at East Bejgaon village in Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Alaeya Begum, 60, wife of Atahar Khan of the village, reports a news agency.
Miscreants swooped on the house of Aleya when she was alone and hit her with a sharp weapon, leaving her dead on the spot, said Yunus Ali, officer-in-charge of Srinagar Police Station.
When Aleya's son Didar came to his house he discovered his mother lying in a pool of blood. Later, she was taken to upazila health complex where the doctors declared her dead.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue.
Police said she might have been killed following dispute over the ownership of a piece of land.
