Missing man found buried in Madaripur

Police have recovered the buried body of a van driver, 12 days after he went missing in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district.

The deceased, Mizan Sheikh, 45, a resident of Balakandi village in Panchchar union, was found on Tuesday in Madhabarchar union of the upazila.

Police said they have arrested one suspect, Nurul Amin alias Shamim, from Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia district.. He is the son of Hashem Sheikh of Zanjira upazila of Shariatpur district, 

On July 31, Mizan left home with his van and never returned. His family began searching for him, and on the next day, his wife, Rahima Begum, filed a general diary with Shibchar Police Station.

Following investigations, police arrested Nurul Amin. Based on his confession, officers recovered Mizan’s body buried in the ground.

Shibchar Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police, Md. Salahuddin Quader said that the accused had boarded the van disguised as a passenger, then hacked the driver to death, buried the body, and fled with the van.

Nurul Amin has initially confessed to the crime, and police operations are ongoing to arrest others involved, he added.
