The government has decided to appoint former Senior Secretary Mohammad Abdul Momen as chairman of the Anti Corruption Commission, or ACC.
At the same time, it has decided to appoint Mia Mohammad Ali Akbar Azizi and Brigadier General (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid as commissioners of the ACC, according to the Cabinet Division sources.
A gazette notification is expected soon, they said.
Momen, who had been working on a contract in the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Public Security Division, resigned earlier in the day.
The Ministry of Public Administration later issued an order canceling his contract.
In 2013, the then-Awami League government forced Momen into mandatory retirement while he was serving as a joint secretary.
After the Awami League government fell on Aug 5 during a student-led uprising, he was appointed as Secretary of the Public Security Division on a contractual basis and later promoted to senior secretary.
