Mohammadpur robbery: 5 out of 8 arrestees are dismissed members of various forces

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested eight people in connection with a robbery at a businessman's house in the capital’s Mohammadpur area.
RAB has reported that the stolen Tk 700,000 has also been recovered.
These eight people were arrested in an operation conducted in various areas of the capital on Saturday.
On Sunday, Lieutenant Colonel Munim Farooq, director of RAB's law and media wing, said that five of the arrested individuals are former members of various forces. The remaining three are ordinary people.
A gold bracelet and a ring have been recovered from them, he added.
A robbery took place at the residence of businessman Abu Bakar in Mohammadpur's Beribandh area at around 3:30am on Friday.
According to police sources, the robbers, posing as members of RAB and the Army, entered the house and committed the robbery.
They looted Tk 7.5 million and 70 bhori of gold. CCTV footage from the scene has been seized.
Abu Bakar filed a case with Mohammadpur police station last night in connection with this incident. The police said Abu Bakar is involved in the land and brick-sand business.
