Motorcycle accidents claim six lives in two districts

At least six motorcyclists were killed in two separate accidents in Narsingdi and Sherpur districts on Friday.   

In Narsingdi, four people were killed when a Dhaka-bound bus from Bhairab hit a motorbike on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Charabagh in Raipura upazila at the morning.

All the motorcyclists—Ramjan Mia, 17, son of Asad Choukidar, Dalim Mia, 14, son of Hafizuddin, Shohagh Mia, 18, son of Sharif Mia of Morjal in Raipura upazila, and the bike driver Yamin, 25, of Putia in Shibpur upazila—died on the spot, reports UNB.

Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Raipura Police Station, said the accident took place around 8:10 am when the bus smashed the bike carrying four people, leaving all the riders killed on the spot.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to local hospital morgue.

On the other hand, two people were killed when a motorbike hit a tree on Kamaria-Nakla road at Baniapara in Sadar upazila of Sherpur district on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Janu Mia, 17, son of Makbul Hossain and Rajib Ahmed, 18, son of Abdus Salam of Poladeshi village in Nokla upazila.

Shamsul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the accident took place in the area around 9:30 am when the motorbike carrying the duo dashed a roadside tree on their way home, leaving Janu killed on the spot and Rajib injured.

Later, Rajib died on way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
