Two people were hacked to death by some muggers at Majhikanda in Nawabganj upazila of Dhaka early Friday.
The deceased were identified as Zahid, 40 and his friend Kamal, 50 of the area, reports UNB.
Mostafa Kamal, officer-in-charge of Nawabganj Police Station, said a group of muggers intercepted a motorbike carrying Zahid and Kamal after placing banana tree on the road around 11:30 pm on Thursday.
Later, the muggers snatched their valuables and stabbed them with sharp weapons, leaving them critically injured.
The injured were taken to Nawabganj upazila health complex where doctors declared Kalam dead and sent Zahid to Mitford Hospital. Zahid died on way to the hospital around 3:00 am.
A case was filed with Nawabganj Police Station.
