Kazi Shah Muzakker Ahmadul Hoque was appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia to Bangladesh.
On May 29, Croatian President Zoran Milanovic, officially conferred this responsibility on Mr Hoque, and on August 18, the Bangladesh government granted him the exequatur, formally recognising his appointment, said a press release on Tuesday.
In a reaction, Mr Hoque stated, "This appointment is not only an honour but also a profound responsibility. I hope to contribute towards strengthening the bonds of friendship, cooperation, and mutual development between Bangladesh and Croatia."
Croatia, a Southeast European nation with its capital in Zagreb, is renowned for its cultural heritage and Adriatic coastline.
The new consulate is expected to further enhance bilateral relations between Dhaka and Zagreb, the press release said.
