To present the heritage of the ancient Bengali New Year to the new generation, the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) is organising a special Nabanna Utsab this time.
The event will take place today (Sunday --1st Agrahayan, 16 November), from 10 am to 10 pm on the Dhaka University campus.
The details were shared at a press conference held on Friday at the Bakultala of the Faculty of Fine Arts. DUCSU Literary and Cultural Affairs Secretary Musaddik Ali Ibne Muhammad announced the full plan of the festival.
He said the celebration will consist of four segments. The first segment, "Rongtulite Nabanna," will feature live painting by 15 renowned and emerging artists, including former and current students of the Faculty of Fine Arts. They will create artworks based on July and Nabanna themes. This segment will begin at 10 am.
The second segment, described as the most attractive part of the festival, is the "Adi Noboborsho Anondojatra".
With the support of the Faculty of Fine Arts, three large artistic motifs are being prepared, one themed on July, one depicting fishermen's lives, and another highlighting agrarian culture. Various elements of rural Bengali life will also be showcased during the rally.
The third and fourth segments will include cultural performances and greetings from invited guests. Various groups under the Revolutionary Cultural Unity will perform recitations, dance, music, and magic shows.
