Nahid Islam resigns from advisory council

Nahid Islam has resigned from the interim government's advisory council to become the head of a new party, according to media reports.

The announcement was made after an advisory council meeting, held at the state guest house Jamuna today (Tuesday).

Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus was present at the meeting.

For the past few days, media reported that information adviser Nahid Islam would resign from the interim government's advisory council to lead the new party, yet to be announced.

Earlier on Sunday, a news agency contacted the Chief Advisor’s Office regarding the matter.

An official from the press office said, "I asked Advisor Nahid about this. He said, 'No, I have not resigned’."
