Bangladesh's national anthem was sung simultaneously across the country on Friday in a protest against a recent call to change it.
Udichi Shilpigosthi organised the event in front of the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka, including the raising of the national flag and performances of patriotic songs.
Passersby, members of various organisations, including Khelaghor, and artists from the media joined the protest.
The protest was sparked by a recent call by Abdullahil Amaan Azmi, son of former Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ghulam Azam, to change the anthem.
In response, Udichi coordinated a nationwide singing of "Amar Sonar Bangla," the national anthem, across all district branches at the same time.
At the central protest in Dhaka, Udichi President Professor Badiur Rahman described the proposal to change the anthem as "a conspiracy by forces defeated in 1971."
He warned that accepting such a proposal could lead to further actions threatening the country's independence and sovereignty.
