National council of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad begins

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Simin Hossain on Friday said moral and ethical upliftment is now the most required quality of human being needed to establish an equal society free from violence against women and ensure women's rights from a sustainable point of view.

She said women's advancement wouldn’t be sustained without this human quality whose absence is now evident in all spares of systems, including education. 

The state minister was addressing national council of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad at Chittagong Hill Tract Complex on Friday as the chief guest. 

The two-day national council began with the slogan 'remove violence against women, build strong women movement’ on Friday. 

BMP President Dr Fauzia Moslem chaired the inaugural function where Professor of Women and Gender Studies Department of Dhaka University Dr Tania Haque spoke as the keynote speaker. 

Simon Hossain said the government has relentlessly been working to bring equality between men and women, establish women's rights and remove violence against women.

So far, women empowerment has been established in the country due to taking women-friendly policy. As a result, women's visibility in many national and international areas has been found with skills.

Among others, General Secretary Maleka Banu, Vice President Rekha Chowdhury and organising secretary Umme Salma Begum spoke on the occasion.
