Ishrak Hossain and Sarika Sadeque, son and daughter of former Dhaka mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka, were ordered to surrender to trial courts within four weeks in a case that involves the suppression of wealth information.

Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukdar and Justice KM Hafizul Alam issued the order, rejecting pleas filed for bail in advance on Thursday, reports bdnews24.com.

Barrister Ajmalul Hossain QC represented the siblings in the court during the hearing.

Lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan represented the Anti-Corruption Commission while Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik was present for the state.

“The case was filed in 2010 but they are seeking advance bail in 2018. However, the advance bail doesn’t come under the purview of the Appellate Division’s rules,” said ACC’s lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan.

The HC also directed the trial courts to dispose of their bail pleas after their surrender.

In 2008, the commission served notices on Ishrak and Sarika asking them to submit details, including the names of dependents, sources of income and other information of their wealth in seven days.

As they did not comply with the notices, ACC Deputy Director Md Shamsul Alam filed the cases with Ramna Model Police Station in 2010.

Ishrak and Sarika filed petitions seeking bail in advance about eight years later.

Prior to that, they filed a writ petition with the High Court challenging the notices. The court rejected the petitions afterwards, said Public Prosecutor Amin Uddin Manik.

Ishrak has received a nomination form for the Dec 30 election for the Dhaka-6 seat after being selected as the BNP candidate for the constituency.
