The government has deployed the Bangladesh Navy to assist the civil administration in tackling the unprecedented flooding in Feni.

Two naval contingents joined the rescue and medical operations on Thursday, with two more set to head to Feni, the Inter-Services Public Relations, (ISPR) said in a press release on Thursday night.

The military's PR wing said the Navy is rescuing flood-affected people and bringing them to emergency shelters.

"Around 200 Navy personnel, led by 13 officers, are conducting rescue operations with essential equipment, boats, life jackets, and divers," the ISPR was quoted by bdnews24.com as saying in the statement.

The force is also providing medical services, medicines, and oral rehydration solutions to those in need, and distributing dry and cooked food to the flood victims.

A relief-laden truck, carrying supplies for approximately 15,000 people, has left for Feni, it said.

The Navy's rescue, medical, and relief operations will continue until the flood situation improves.
