Navy rescues nine fishermen in Bay of Bengal

Bangladesh Navy (BN) rescued nine fishermen of a fishing trawler that sank near to Mongla fairway in the Bay of Bengal today (Monday) morning after colliding with a commercial vessel.

Swadhin-3, with 12 fishermen onboard, from Patharghata sank after colliding with a ship at dawn, an ISPR release said.

BN ship Turag reached the place of occurrence immediately and pulled out nine fishermen out of the sea, reports BSS.

Two more BN ships, Meghna and Nishan, later joined the operation to continue search for the three missing fishermen.
