New officers-in-charge (OCs) have been appointed to 12 police stations under the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police ahead of the parliamentary election.
The transfer came into effect on Sunday via an office order signed by RMP Commissioner Md Zillur Rahman.
The new station chiefs will take charge immediately per the order, RMP spokesperson and Deputy Commissioner Gaziur Rahman said.
According to the order, the OCs were selected through a lottery to take charge of the new stations, he added.
Among those newly appointed, Boalia Model Police chief Abul Kalam Azad was appointed to Motihar station, and Damkura station chief Rabiul Islam received charge of Boalia station.
Moreover, Chandrima station chief Md Arjun was transferred to Belpukur station, Motihar station chief Md Abdul Malek to Rajpara station, Katakhali station chief Abdul Matin to Paba station, Belpukur station chief Suman Quaderi to Katakhali station, and Shah Makhdum station chief Masuma Mustari to Airport station.
Conversely, Airport station chief Md Faruk Hossain was moved to Shah Makhdum station, Paba station chief Farhad Ali to Kashiadanga station, Karnahar station chief Monirul Islam to Chandrima station, Kashiadanga station chief Azizul Bari Ibn Jalil to Damkura station, and Rajpara station chief Habibur Rahman to Karnahar station, all through a lottery.
RMP spokesperson Gaziur said, "The new OCs will take all necessary measures to maintain peace and security during the election period."
