Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has ruled out any alternative to elections, warning that contemplating one would be “deeply dangerous” for the nation.
His remarks were relayed by his Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam to reporters outside the State Guest House Jamuna on Sunday night.
Yunus had separate meetings with delegations of the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizen Party (NCP) earlier in the day.
The chief advisor, Shafiqul said, reiterated that polls would be held within the timeframe he announced in his address to the nation -- in the first half of February -- in a “free, fair and festive” atmosphere.
