No concrete plan of DU renovations after tremor: JCS

Jatiya Chhatra Shakti (JCS) leaders said DU administration failed to disclose the duration and plan of the renovations-citing which the authorities closed the institution following last month's tremor.

JCS Dhaka University (DU) unit President Tahmid Al Muddassir Chowdhury made the remarks during an emergency press conference at the Dhaka University Journalists' Association on Wednesday morning.

The leaders of the group also pointed out that the authorities have not clarified which residential halls are safe and which are not, raising questions among the student community.

Tahmid said,"After the first tremor, the university suddenly ordered the students to leave the halls within one day, without any clear plan. They talked about renovation, but they have not provided any outline or timeline. We still do not know the outcome of the hall inspections, or which halls are actually safe." He also expressed his doubts about the quality of the renovation works currently being conducted in the halls.
