‘No Indian visa restriction imposed on Bangladeshi student leaders’

Describing some media reports on imposing visa restrictions on Bangladeshi student leaders as ‘fake news’, an Indian media has said the country has not taken such a decision.

India Today gave the information in a report on Sunday following reports in a section of Bangladeshi media claiming India has imposed a visa ban on six Bangladeshi student leaders, who were the key organisers of a recent anti-discrimination student movement.

An unnamed Indian official told the news outlet that these reports on imposing visa restrictions don’t contain accurate information.

The India Today said these false reports were prepared in the intention of fuelling anti-India sentiments.

The recent anti-discrimination student movement has brought a political changeover in Bangladesh through toppling Sheikh Hasina-led government.
