No prior condition to hold polls when govt took office: Sakhawat

Labour and Employment Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) M Sakhawat Hossain there was no prior condition to hold elections when the interim government assumed office on 8 August in 2024.

Addressing a press conference at the secretariat on Monday, the adviser said the government itself stated that an election will be held as the universal democratic process should be established.

The adviser also mentioned also noted that there is no reason why the government cannot ensure a free and fair election.

Highlighting the achievements of the Ministry of Labour and Employment over the past year, he said the interim government has secured a new level of international recognition over the past year by successfully implementing comprehensive labour reforms through tripartite cooperation among workers, employers, and the government.
