The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has said it will not tolerate any corruption in the government-run relief programmes amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the country.

“The Commission will not tolerate any corruption in the government's social security programmes,” ACC chairman Iqbal Mahmud said in a statement on Friday.

According to the statement, the Commission received information through the media and its own intelligence about various irregularities and corruption by some individuals in different government-run social security programmes.

Due to these corruption and irregularities, the statement said the anti-graft agency decided to closely monitor the relief distribution activities across the country.

In line with the decision, officials from each and every integrated district office of the commission will do the monitoring job in coordination with the local district administration, the statement added.
