Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday said war criminals and people with controversial roles in the Liberation War will not be allowed to attend Victory Day programmes across the country.

“Directives have been given to the local administration to take necessary steps in this regard,” he said while talking to reporters after a meeting on law and order situation at the Secretariat.

He said all government and private organisations should follow the rule while hoisting the national flag.

The minister said additional security measures will be taken for the President, Prime Minister and Cabinet members in the National Mausoleum area.

Special security will be arranged for foreigners and surveillance cameras will be installed on the Dhaka-Savar road to prevent any act of sabotage, reports UNB.

Special meals will be served in prisons, hospitals, orphanage and old homes on the occasion of the Victory Day.

Fire Service men will remain alert at 411 spots while medical teams and ambulances will be kept standby in some important places of the city as well as Savar.

The Minister urged all to refrain from decorating any organisation or establishment with lights on Dec 14 to pay tribute to the martyred intellectuals.
