Election observers from nine countries have so far confirmed that they will visit Bangladesh to monitor the upcoming general election to be held on January 7.
India, Sri Lanka, China, Russia, Japan, Uzbekistan, Mauritius, Georgia and Palestine would observe the elections, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Seheli Sabrin said at the ministry’s weekly briefing on Thursday afternoon.
Besides, she said, the OIC, Commonwealth, and Arab Parliament will also observe the elections.
Currently, a four-member EU expert panel is in Dhaka to observe the election.
The EU delegation is scheduled to leave the country on January 24.
