Over 10m families to get financial aid for Eid-ul-Fitr celebration

The government will provide financial assistance to more than 10.0 million helpless and poor families on the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the greatest religious festivals of the Muslims, in the Mujib Year.

The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has allocated more than Tk 4.50 billion for this purpose, reports BSS citing a press release issued on Wednesday.

Under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme, more than 8.8 million VGF cards for 492 upazilas of 64 districts and over 1.2 million 746 VGF cards for 328 municipalities were allotted, the release added.

Financial assistance will be provided to helpless, destitute and extreme poor families to celebrate the upcoming holy Eid.

In this case, priority will be given to the distressed and extremely poor families and those who are affected by the recent natural calamities.
