Overseas travel ban imposed on 18 former ministers, 8 former MPs

A Dhaka court has imposed an overseas travel ban on 18 former ministers and 8 former members of parliament (MPs) in response to two petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Judge Mohammed Ash-Shams Joglul Hossain of the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court of Dhaka gave the order on Monday.

The ban was imposed against former ministers Hasan Mahmud, Imran Ahmed, Tipu Munshi, Anisul Huq, Md Tajul Islam, Faridul Haque Khan, Golam Dastagir Gazi, Anwar Hossain, Hasanul Haq Inu, former state ministers Nasrul Hamid, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Md Jakir Hossain, Md. Enamul Haque, Swapan Bhattacharjee, Dr Enamur Rahman, Zahid Ahsan Russel and Md Mohibbur Rahman.

Besides, former MPs Benazir Ahmed, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Shahidul Islam Bakul, AKM Shorwar Jahan, Sheikh Afil Uddin, Meher Afroz, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud and Sheikh Helal Uddin have also been barred from travelling abroad.
