Padma Bridge’s river training costs to rise by Tk 2.49 billion

The government has raised the river training cost of Padma Bridge by Tk 2.49 billion to Tk 98.34 billion.
The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) approved a proposal for this cost hike during a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmood Ali on Thursday.
Secretary of the Cabinet Division (Coordination and Reform) Md Mahmudul Hossain Khan gave the information while briefing the reporters after the meeting, according to local media reports.
In 2014, the contract for the river training work was signed with Chinese company ‘Sinohydro Corporation’ for Tk 87.08 billion. But, several times the cost of river training has been increased.
The secretary said the deadline for the project is scheduled to end Monday (30 June).
