Padma Express derails near Joydebpur station, disrupting rail communication

Rail communication between Dhaka and the northern districts has been postponed, as the engine and a coach of the Dhaka-bound Padma Express derailed near Joydebpur Railway Junction of Gazipur on Saturday evening.

According to the railway and local sources, the train derailed while entering Joydebpur Railway Station because of a wrong point signal around 8:45 pm.

Nadir Uzzaman, the in-charge of Joydebpur Railway Outpost, informed that the incident also blocked Shibbari-Rajbari road as the parts of the train came off there.
