A passenger on Thai Airways flight THA-339 from Bangkok to Dhaka has died after suffering a heart attack.
The flight made an emergency landing at Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport for medical assistance, but the passenger, Md Sajjad, passed away before treatment, said airport spokesperson Ibrahim Khalil.
He said on Friday that the control tower at Shahjalal International Airport informed the Chattogram tower at 12:39am about a medical emergency on Thai Airways' Bangkok-Dhaka flight, as a passenger had suffered a heart attack.
"In that situation, the captain of the aircraft wanted to make an emergency landing at the nearest Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport.
“After receiving permission, the plane made an emergency landing at Chattogram airport around 1am, and doctors declared the passenger dead.”
Khalil said, “The airport doctor boarded the plane immediately after it landed at night, but the passenger had already passed away. The flight later departed for Dhaka at 3:40am.”
