Students of Tejgaon College have once again blocked the road in the Farmgate area protesting the death of a fellow peer following a clash between two groups at the college hostel.
Students took to the streets around 10:15am on Sunday, bringing traffic to a halt on one of the capital’s major thoroughfares, said Kyashainu Marma, chief of Tejgaon Police Station.
He said, “Some students have taken to the streets protesting the death of a Tejgaon College student. We are talking to them and trying to remove them from the road.”
Due to the road blockade, severe traffic congestion has developed in Tejgaon, Karwan Bazar, and surrounding areas.
The deceased Sakibul was a higher secondary (HSC) student of Tejgaon College.
The following day, on Dec 11, his classmates blocked the Farmgate road for two hours, demanding an investigation into the killing and protesting his death.
Although they withdrew after receiving assurances from the police, the students have once again taken to the streets on Sunday, staging fresh protests.
