Operations at the Chattogram Custom House came to a standstill on Saturday (28 June) as customs officials started a ‘pen down strike’ paralysing the import-export activities at the port.

As part of the 'complete shutdown' programme enforced by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Reform Unity Council, the port officials started the work abstention from 6:00 am today (Saturday).

Customs clearance for consignments has come to a standstill.

All types of export and import vehicles, under the jurisdiction of CPA, have also been unable to complete their gate-in and gate-out processes.

Officials of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Saturday morning started a nationwide 'complete shutdown' as part of their previously announced programme.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) Reform Unity Council, a coalition of protesting NBR officials and staff, is demanding the removal of NBR Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan.

The 'Complete Shutdown' calls for a nationwide closure of all tax, customs, and VAT offices from today.
