The country's law and order situation has improved, and it will get even better, claimed the Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
He said, "The common people are saying that the law and order situation is better than before. From that road, I hear people saying, you should stay for another five years."
After visiting the Shantiganj Police Station in Sunamganj on Thursday afternoon, the Home and Agriculture Adviser made these remarks in response to questions from journalists, according to local media reports.
In response to a question regarding law and order, Adviser Jahangir Alam further stated, "We have also lost some of our station's own equipment. Not all have been recovered. Efforts are ongoing to recover them. Once they are recovered, the situation will improve further." He posed a counter-question, "Has the law and order situation not improved compared to before?"
Recently, regarding the incidents of vandalism and looting in business establishments during protests against Israel in two divisional cities of the country, the Home Adviser stated, "Some incidents will occur. It is a matter of seeing whether we have taken action or not. Those places where incidents are happening, those who have committed these misdeeds have been brought under the law. If anyone attempts to commit such crimes in the future, we will bring them under the law."
In response to the deterioration of law and order situation in the Shantiganj Upazila, the Home Adviser stated, "For this, everyone must become aware. They must be told, brothers, the reputation of our police station is at stake because of you. Strict measures will be taken whenever firearms are used."
