Job seekers staged a sit-in outside Petrobangla’s headquarters in the capital’s Karwan Bazar area on Sunday, protesting repeated postponement of the viva voce examination for recruitment.
According to local media, the demonstration began at 11:00am, blocking hundreds of officials and workers inside the building.
The protestors allege deliberate delays in the recruitment process for the 17 category positions under Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited, a subsidiary of Petrobangla.
“We demand the immediate resumption of the viva voce examination and prompt publication of results to complete the recruitment process. Our sit-in will continue until this demand is met,” said one of the demonstrators.
As of now, Petrobangla officials have not issued a statement regarding the matter.
