A petrol pump in the city's Kalyanpur area caught fire on Tuesday afternoon.
Atiqul Islam, duty officer at the control room of Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Headquarters, said the fire broke out at Razia Petrol Pump around 5:25 pm.
On information, he said, three fire fighting units rushed in and were trying to bring the fire under control, reports UNB.
Seven more fire fighting units are also on the way to reach the spot, Atiqul said.
It is still unclear what caused the fire, he said.
According to private television channels, the situation is now under control.
