Plaintiff Md Baker has requested the office-in-charge (OC) of Khilgaon police station to drop the name of noted Supreme Court Lawyer ZI Khan Panna from an attempted murder case filed on October 17.
Md Baker, who sells vegetables on a rickshaw van in the Banasree area, filed the case on Thursday accusing 180 persons including Panna on charge of shooting his son Ahadul Islam on July 19.
On Monday morning, the plaintiff requested the OC of the police station to withdraw the name of ZI Khan Panna in the case, saying he has been wrongly accused, as per media reports.
Among the 180 individuals named in the case are Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, and ZI Khan Panna, who is listed as accused number 94.
Mr Panna, who publicly backed student protesters throughout the unrest in July and August, has secured an anticipatory bail from the High Court in the case.
A High Court bench of Justice AKM Asaduzaman granted the anticipatory bail on Monday.
ZI Khan Panna, the chairperson of Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), will remain on bail until the filing of the probe report in the case filed under the police station.
