PM inaugurates 31 development projects in Tangail

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 31 development projects during the founding anniversary of Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal in Tangail.

She opened 14 development projects and laid the foundation stones of 17 other schemes by unveiling their plaques from the Kumudini Complex on Thursday.

The Prime Minister will give the Ranada Prasad Saha Memorial Gold Medal to the awardees and also visit the Kumudini Hospital and Bharateswari Homes, according to agencies reports.

Hasina reached the Kumudini Complex in Mirzapur by helicopter in the morning, accompanied by her younger sister Sheikh Rehana.

Kumudini Trust Director Pratibha Mutsuddi, education adviser in Kumudini Women’s Medical College Prof MA Jalil, principal of the college Abdul Halim, Bharateswari Homes Principal Md Anowarul Haque were present on the occasion.

National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and Hossain Shahid Suhrawardy have been honoured with Ranada Prasad Saha Memorial Gold Medal 2019 posthumously, as it will also be awarded to National Professor Rafiqul Islam and artist Shahabuddin Ahmed, said Pratibha Mutsuddi in a press briefing on Tuesday.

The fourteen development projects inaugurated by the prime minister are Dherua Railway Overpass, 33/11 KV Switching Station, Grid Sub-Station Boilya, Rabna Bypass, Tangail, 33/11 KV 20 MVA Indoor Sub-Station, Indraboleta, Porabari in Tangail, 100 percent electrification in Basail, Delduar and Nagarpur upazilas, expansion of administrative building and hall room of Shakhipur Upazila Complex, Kalihati-Soyarhat Hatiya Road, extension of Upazila Complex Building in Mirzapore, Bangabandhu VIP Auditorium at Tangail Press Club, Upazila Muktijoddha Complex in Mirzapore and Upazila Livestock Development Centre in Mirzapore.

She also laid the foundation stones of the widening project (Tangail part) of Elenga-Jamalpur National Highway (N-4), reconstruction of 10 damaged bridges and a culvert on Elenga-Bhuapur-Chargabsara Road, Regional Highway Development Project, upgradation work of Tangail-Delduar Highway, Karatia- Basail Road and Pakulla-Delduar-Elason Road, expansion of Administrative Building and Hall Room of Kalihati Upazila Complex, Karatiapara Govt Primary School, Basail, Baten Bahini Muktijuddha Jadughar, Delduar, Rasulpur Land Office in Ghatail, Lokrepara Land Office in Ghatail, Delduar Fire Service and Civil Defence Office, model mosques in Tangail Sadar, and Basail upazilas, Sakhipur Upazila Land Office, Madhupur Upazila Land Office and Mirzapore Upazila Land Office and newly constructed building of Tangail Circuit House.

The prime minister also laid the foundation stones of Bharateswari Homes Multipurpose Hall and the Institute of Post Graduate Nursing Complex on Kumudini Complex.
