PM to inaugurate Bangladesh Bar Council building today

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the newly-constructed building of the Bangladesh Bar Council in the capital on Saturday.

The 15-floor modern building was built at a cost of Taka 1.38 billion, with adequate office space, a meeting room, two conference rooms, a record room, a store room, a waiting area, a cafeteria, a day-care centre, exhibition space, registration room, bank, accounts section, IT section, among other facilities, reports BSS.

Built under the supervision of the Law and Justice Division and designed by the Department of Architecture, the building has five tribunal rooms, a multipurpose hall and a separate prayer room, an official release said.

More than a hundred lawyers will be able to live in the building, with a TV lounge, kitchen and dining hall.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also scheduled to join as chief guest at the lawyers' grand rally on Historic Suhrawardi Udyan on Saturday. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq will preside over the rally.
