Detectives have arrested 10 teenagers from different places around Halishahar of the port city for their alleged involvement in the killing of teenage boy Mohammad Sumon.
A team of Detective Branch of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested them, aged 16-18, in a drive on Tuesday night, said CMP Deputy Commissioner (DB) Mohammad Shahidullah who led the drive.
A knife used for killing Sumon and his mobile phone were also recovered from their possession, he said, adding that all of them had been involved in crimes like snatching and eve-teasing.
Sumon, 17, along with his two friends fell prey to muggers while returning home after enjoying a movie at BDR Cinema Hall in Halishahar area on Sunday night.
In their bid to take away Sumon's mobile phone, the hoodlums stabbed the teenager indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
He was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead around 3:00am on Monday, reports UNB.
