Police arrest tutor over alleged sexual abuse of students in Chattogram

Police have arrested a young man in Chattogram’s Boalkhali Upazila who allegedly sexually harassed children while tutoring them at his house.

The suspect, identified only as Imtiaz, was apprehended from his Munshipara residence on Wednesday night.

Boalkhali Police chief Mahfuzur Rahman told bdnews24.com that the abuse allegedly took place at the teacher’s house.

“On Wednesday, three girls and one boy, aged between 10 and 11, came to the station with their parents to lodge a complaint,” said Mahfuzur.

Police allege the suspect systematically subjected the children to prolonged sexual abuse.

The victims alleged that the latest incident occurred on Feb 14.

Mahfuzur said a case has been formally filed against the suspect.

The children have already provided their statements before a court under Section 22 of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
