The Bangladesh Police Service Association's (BPSA) reaction to the recent media reports on the alleged corruption of former and incumbent policemen is unacceptable, and it provided moral support to the corrupt officers, the Newspaper Owners Association of Bangladesh (NOAB) said on Monday.
“If there is any error in a report, the concerned media that published the news is responsible for it. If necessary, the concerned institution or individual mentioned in the report can approach the Press Council following the proper rules and regulations," NOAB said in a statement.
Instead, the media has been threatened to be more careful in publishing any kind of report about the Bangladesh Police Force in the future, which is against the practice of independent and impartial journalism, the newspaper owners association believes.
NOAB hopes that in the future, the police force will cooperate with the media in implementing the government's anti-corruption policies.
