Police find body of missing schoolgirl in Joypurhat

Police recovered the body of a schoolgirl from the Chhoto Jamuna River in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat on Monday night, 12 hours after she went missing from the district town.

The deceased was identified as Ritu Paul, daughter of Biswajit Paul of Sabujnagar area in the district town and a Class-VII student.

Officer-in-charge of Panchbibi Police Station Md Mansur Rahman said Ritu went to her school on Monday morning but did not return home, reports UNB.

Ritu’s father filed a general diary with Sadar Police Station in this regard.

Around 10:00pm, her body was spotted floating along the riverbank at Shashanghat in Panchbibi.

Later, police and fire-fighters recovered the body.
