In preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations police have issued a security advisory to ensure a safe and smooth holiday for all.

In a statement on Thursday, Police Headquarters urged the public to follow the safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of all travelers and help contribute to a peaceful and enjoyable Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.

For Passengers:

Plan your travel with sufficient time and prioritise the safety of yourself and your family.

Avoid urging drivers to drive at high speeds or taking unnecessary risks by traveling on the roof of buses or in goods-carrying vehicles like trucks and pickups.

Use zebra crossings or foot overbridges when crossing roads. If unavailable, cross the road safely by watching the movement of vehicles and seek police help if needed.

Refrain from accepting food or drinks from strangers during your journey.

For Bus Owners:

Do not allow incompetent, tired, or sick drivers to operate buses.

Ensure drivers adhere to traffic rules and avoid risky overtaking.

Unfit vehicles should not be allowed on the road.

For Bus Drivers:

Avoid excessive speeds and risky overtaking.

Do not drive when tired, exhausted, or sick.

Ensure you carry all necessary documents, including the driving license, and refrain from carrying extra passengers.

For Launch/Steamer/Speed Boat Passengers:

Do not take extra passengers or travel on the roof of boats.

Avoid traveling in adverse weather conditions, as it poses a risk to your life.

During storms, stay in your place and wear a life jacket when traveling on speedboats.

For Launch/Steamer/Speedboat Owners:

Operate boats with the specified number and grade of masters and drivers.

Suspend boat movement during adverse weather conditions and close the master bridge to prevent the free movement of passengers.

Ensure sufficient buoys are available on the boat.

For Launch/Steamer/Speedboat Drivers:

Know the weather forecast and only operate the boat if conditions are safe.

Do not transport goods on the deck where passengers sit.

Ensure the boat is equipped with buoys and life jackets, and keep emergency communication equipment like mobile phones and radios for weather updates.

Refrain from operating boats without valid documents and ensure that fire pumps and firefighting equipment are functioning properly.

For Train Passengers:

Avoid traveling on the roof, buffer, steps, or engine of the train.

Be cautious about throwing stones while traveling by train and keep your belongings at your own risk.

Do not travel without tickets.

In case of any emergency, travelers are encouraged to contact the respective authorities through provided numbers for immediate assistance.
